The Rineyville Fire Dept is an organization that is comprised of over 40 professionals that spend countless hours becoming better trained at what they do. The Fire Dept was established in 1979, Jon Miniard being the first Fire Chief. Since its inception it has grown to be know as one of the most respected Volunteer Fire Department in Hardin County. Currently the department responds to various types of calls. The Fire Department is funded by the community through the fire dept subscription service.
Currently the department is comprised of seven elected positions Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, 2 Lieutenants, Secretary, and Treasurer. The fire dept. has oversight from 7 nominated board members, 2 coming from within the department the other 5 from the community. The board is appointed to a 1 year term with the possibility of serving 5 years. The board is apart of the financial approval process. A budget is submitted by the Chief annually to the Board of Directors each trustee reviews the budget and then work with the department to reach its goals set forth by the flexible five year plan. The Fire Department is currently in the final stages of adding a second station in the western side of the district. If plans continue the station will be started very soon and we hope for a completion date by the end of the year.
The fire departments fleet consist of 3 engines, 2 tankers, one brush vehicle, and one command car. We have 11 certified in house instructors we conduct training on a weekly basis. The department is certified to the HAZMAT OPS level. The majority of the department hold Firefighter I, II certification and is trained to EMT first responder level.
